50BC #30 – Beastly by Alex Flinn

Title: Beastly
Author: Alex Flinn
Published: 2007
Summary: To teach him a lesson, Kendra (a “wicked” witch) transforms Kyle Kingsbury into a Beast. He is given two years to undo the curse by finding someone that he loves who also loves him back.

I wasn’t going to give this book a chance until I heard about the movie because the movie sounds fabulous and I like being aware of the source material before I see a movie adaptation of a book. It was a cute and short read (I finished it in one sitting) and I liked reading the author’s note afterwards.

I’ve always had a soft spot for the overall story that this tale is based on and I don’t really understand why. I can’t wait to see the movie version of this book and I hope it’s just as cute.

50BC #29 – Warriors (Original Series): Rising Storm

Title: Rising Storm
Author: Erin Hunter
Series: Warriors (Original Series)
Published: 2004
Summary: The action-packed fourth book in the Warriors series will leave readers clambering for more!

There is so much packed into this one book that I felt like I was just trudging along through quicksand, even though I really love these cats! All of the drama in this book was giving me a headache, though. Tigerclaw, River Clan, Fireheart, all of it. Once it was finally revealed in the end that Tigerclaw had been accepted as the new leader of Shadow Clan I was relieved. Though I can’t wait to get started on book five because the fun has just started and I can’t wait to see if Sandstorm and Fireheart’s friendship/crush on each other blossoms into something adorable.

My feelings about Cloudpaw have changed a bit, though. I don’t like him as a character as much as I used to but I would love to have him as a kittypet because he’s so cute!

50BC #28 – Warriors (Original Series): Forest of Secrets

Title: Forest of Secrets
Author: Erin Hunter
Series: Warriors (Original Series)
Published: 2003
Summary: Suspicions are proven true and the dynamics of Thunderclan change severely.

This book was so sad and dark compared to the first two. Silverstream dying while giving birth had me sobbing. That subject in general is a really touchy one for me. I’m also really glad that Tigerclaw’s true nature was revealed. The drama surrounding all of that was just getting both boring and too much. Also, I don’t know how I feel about Fireheart becoming clan deputy. Sure, he really proved his loyalty to the clan and clout as a warrior with the battle but was that really enough to become deputy? Hopefully Fireheart will show his power more within the next couple of books.

I’m so proud of Cloudkit… I mean Cloudpaw! He’s so cute and a worthy apprentice! He’s definitely on my list of favourite cats in this series.

50BC #27 – Warriors (Original Series): Fire and Ice by Erin Hunter

Title: Fire and Ice
Author: Erin Hunter
Series: Warriors (Original Series)
Published: 2003
Summary: Tensions are building to their breaking point between the clans. Fireheart must deal with this and also a betrayal within Thunderclan.

Yey, I’ve finally gotten my paws (ha ha) on a copy of book two in the first Warrior Cats series! I really hope that this drama between Fireheart and Tigerclaw is resolved within the next few books because I’m getting anxious about it. It also just seems counterproductive, but I can see where both cats are coming from because they’re both acting shady and against the clan (as far as the reader knows). Also, I have two new favourite cats: Cloudkit and Cinderpaw. They’re so cute and I can’t wait to read more about their adventures with Thunderclan.
